General
Although Blade operates its recruitment business in more than one country, all of the information we hold about our candidates is held on computer systems in the United Kingdom. We have therefore compiled this Privacy Policy to ensure that we meet our obligations under UK legistlation. Whenever you send us personal information about yourself, you consent to it being treated in accordance with this Privacy Policy, regardless of which country you send it from.
We are registered as a data controller with the United Kingdom Information Commissioner's Office. For details of our registration, Click here (our Registration Number is Z1061567). This implies certain responsibilities on our part in English Law, in particular under the UK Data Protection Acts. We meet these obligations by adhering to this Privacy Policy. For the purposes of the Data Protection Act (1998), Blade's data controller is the Company Director, Mr Peter Ahearne.
This Privacy Policy is in addition to our Website Terms and Conditions, and our normal terms of engagement for temporary and limited company workers, which can be found on our candidates pages.
What Data We Collect From You and How
We can’t consider you for any of our job vacancies unless you are registered with us. To do this, we need your full name, full address, at least one contact telephone number, the type of work you are looking for and a copy of your latest CV. By sending us this personal information (whether you do so by post, fax, email or via our website) you consent to it being stored, processed and used by us in accordance with this Privacy Policy, and to your CV being rewritten in our standard format.
We reserve the right to ask you to attend a short interview with us. We will use this opportunity to verify your identity and qualifications and to collect further information about you, such as your marital status, date of birth, state of health and referee contact details.
We are a member of The Recruitment & Employment Confederation and we abide by their code of practice. This means that we may exercise our right to take up references on you. Such references may provide us with additional personal information about you, such as your work record and details of criminal convictions.
We reserve the right to record and store telephone conversations we have with you, to monitor the level of service we are providing and also for staff training and record keeping purposes.
How Your Data is Stored, Accessed and Used
Any information we collect from you is stored on secure servers hosted by ourselves or our internet service provider. Only our authorised employees can access your details. Although no computer system can be 100% secure, we take reasonable steps to prevent unauthorised access.
We will use your personal data to facilitate the recruitment process and to contact you about jobs you have applied for or other job opportunities.
We will not share your data with any third party without your permission, except in the event that:

either we believe in good faith that we are required to disclose information about you in order to comply with the law or with an order issued by a court of competent jurisdiction, or to cooperate with lawful authorities in matters such as the investigation of a serious crime or the collection of taxes and duties;

or we participate in a corporate merger or takeover, in which case your details will be shared with our new business partners or owners following the successful completion of such an event.
Updates
We will hold your details for as long as necessary to comply with UK law and in accordance with our legitimate interests as a data controller. We try to ensure that the information we hold about our candidates is up to date, accurate and complete. With this in mind, we rely on you to notify us if your data requires correcting or updating. We will try to incorporate any changes you tell us about into your records in a timely manner.
Your Rights
You have a right under The UK Data Protection Act (1998) to request a copy of the information we hold about you. Any requests of this kind should be sent to our offices in London or Durban, or emailed to info@bladerecruitment.co.uk. We reserve the right to charge a small administration fee for this service.
Updates to This Privacy Policy
We may change this Privacy Policy from time to time. Such changes will be posted on our website before they are due to take effect. If the changes are substantial, we will contact you directly beforehand to ensure that you consent to having your personal information treated in accordance with the updated Privacy Policy.
Disclaimer
The recruitment process can occasionally result in personal information about candidates being transferred to computer systems outside the European Union. Non EU countries do not always have data protection laws as strong as the United Kingdom. Whilst we will try to ensure that this privacy policy is respected by third parties located outside the EU, we cannot guarantee that they will do so.
